Chapter 67 First Encounter with a Fox Spirit on the Immortal Ship

The passageway in the Starship Sea Central Hub was unusually empty, with only the automatic guide lights emitting a cold white glow, casting long shadows of everyone onto the smooth alloy floor.

The air was filled with a faint smell, like a mixture of disinfectant and metal coolant, but it lacked the hustle and bustle and liveliness that a large airport should have. This deathly silence only added to the oppressive atmosphere.

Walter Young walked at the head of the group, the sound of his cane striking the ground echoing clearly in the empty passageway.

His expression was serious, and his sharp gaze behind his glasses swept across his surroundings.

Xing and March 7 followed behind him, one on each side. Xing looked around curiously, while March 7 seemed a little nervous and subconsciously gripped the bow in his hand.

Dan Heng walked silently a little behind, his deep blue eyes lowered, and an indescribable sense of alienation emanating from him, as if there was an invisible barrier separating him from the fairy ship of his hometown.

Chen Feng lagged behind, still relaxed, but with a hint of scrutiny in his eyes.

"Uncle Yang, it's so quiet here." March 7th couldn't help but mutter softly, his voice amplified in the silence, "Wasn't the Immortal Boat Alliance supposed to be bustling? It feels like a ghost town—"

"Something's definitely not right," Walter said in a deep voice, tapping his cane lightly on the ground. "Communications are silent, the port is unmanned, yet the automated guidance system has opened a passage just for us—this is not normal."

"Everyone, stay alert. Danheng, you know this place best. Report any unusual activity immediately."

Dan Heng nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over the familiar building outlines, his expression complex: "Understood."

They followed the guidance channel, leaving the standardized port connection area and entering a more open area.

Here you can see more of the unique architecture of the Fairy Ship, with pavilions with flying eaves and brackets floating in the air, connected by energy walkways that emit soft light, and huge mechanical structures cleverly integrated into the classical style, forming a strange and magnificent picture.

However, the starships and pedestrians that should have been bustling about were nowhere to be seen; only cold metal and silent energy flows were in motion.

"Wow—these buildings are floating in the sky!" Xing exclaimed, pointing at the suspended buildings, temporarily suppressing her unease. "This technology is much more advanced than Belloberg's! Uncle Yang, do you think there's a giant robot down there too?"

Walter pushed up his glasses with a sigh: "Star—this isn't the time to discuss this. Pay attention to your surroundings."

Despite saying that, his gaze lingered for a few more seconds on the architectural structures that blended ancient techniques with cutting-edge technology, a hint of the inquisitive curiosity of a tech geek flashing in his eyes.

Chen Feng chuckled softly from behind, but said nothing.

Just as they were crossing a plaza surrounded by enormous energy pipes, a sudden, teeth-grinding roar shattered the deathly silence!

"roar--!!!"

The sound came from behind an archway decorated with stone carvings of auspicious beasts to the side and front, accompanied by the ear-piercing noise of metal being torn apart and the sound of some kind of viscous liquid dripping.

"Something's up!" Walter instantly held his cane horizontally in front of him, and a faint gravitational field rippled around him.

Xing immediately summoned the Flame Spear, its tip igniting with golden protective flames.

On the seventh day of the third month, the bow was drawn and the arrow was nocked, and icy blue energy condensed at the tip of the arrow.

Dan Heng's eyes sharpened, and Ji Yun instantly appeared in his hand, the tip of the spear emitting a cold, watery light.

Chen Feng also put away his nonchalant attitude and turned his gaze toward the source of the sound.

Behind the archway, several grotesque monsters were frantically attacking a figure!

Those monsters were the "Abundant Beasts" that Chen Feng had mentioned before—they had bodies that resembled giant vines fused with flesh and blood, their skin covered with rough, bark-like shells, and dark green slime flowing from the crevices.

Their limbs were twisted and deformed, some with sharp bone spurs, and some waving fists with swollen ends, like tumors.

Their eyes are a murky yellow, radiating a twisted longing for the origin of life and a pure desire for destruction.

The woman being besieged was a slender woman.

She had long, smooth brown hair with natural curls at the ends, and most striking were her fluffy fox ears with dark brown tips, which were trembling slightly with tension and fighting.

A fluffy, soft fox tail of the same color swung nimbly behind her, sometimes for balance, sometimes to deflect attacks from tricky angles.

She was dressed in an exquisitely designed outfit that combined ancient Chinese style with practicality, but at this moment she looked somewhat disheveled, with the hem of her clothes torn and stained with green slime and dust.

She had no obvious weapon, but her movements were exceptionally agile. In her dodges and leaps, her fox tail and hands skillfully blocked and deflected force, and she could even use the force of the attacking creature to deflect it.

Her fingertips occasionally glowed with a faint blue light, as if she were trying to guide some kind of energy, but she was clearly struggling under the siege of several monstrous creatures and was in grave danger.

"It's a fox spirit!" March 7th exclaimed. "She's being attacked by those monsters!"

"Abundant scum—quite a few in number." Dan Heng frowned, confirming the enemy's identity.

"Save them!" Walter ordered without hesitation. He pointed his cane forward sharply, and invisible ripples of gravity instantly spread outwards!

"A simulated black hole!"

A powerful gravitational field suddenly enveloped the two monstrous creatures that were charging at the front.

Their ferocious attack suddenly halted, as if they had sunk into an invisible quagmire. Their bodies were forcibly pulled and twisted, emitting painful howls, and their speed decreased sharply, giving the trapped fox-woman a precious chance to catch her breath.

"Watch this! Flame Spear - Charge!" Xing seized the opportunity, shouted, and her golden figure shot out like an arrow! The flame spear in her hand, carrying scorching protective fire, accurately pierced the core of a monster that had been slowed down by the gravity field.

The protective flames seemed to have a special restraining effect on the abundant, twisted life force. The creature let out a shrill scream, and the parts that were hit quickly turned black and carbonized.

The ice arrow of March 7th followed closely, striking another monstrous creature in the joint with its biting chill. Frost spread rapidly, temporarily freezing its movements.

Dan Heng's figure darted into the battlefield like a ghost, his target a vile creature attempting to ambush the fox-woman from the side.

The Cloud-Striking Spear moved like a dragon emerging from the sea, carrying immense, watery power, instantly piercing the creature's head, causing its filthy fluids to burst forth.

Chen Feng did not make a move immediately. He stood still, his gaze sweeping across the battlefield to confirm that there were no other hidden threats, while also observing the fox-woman's skills with great interest.

With the strong support of the train crew, the battle situation was instantly reversed.

Those few bountiful creatures were quickly wiped out, turning into a pile of decaying remains.

The battle subsided, leaving only the low hum of the energy pipes and the slightly hurried breathing of the crowd in the plaza.
