Chapter 124 124: TREASURY
Chapter 124 124: TREASURY
Silas stepped out of the car, his feet stirring the dust as he walked toward the rest of the students.
The car drove off behind him, still humming with a gentle sound.
Most of the students parted as Silas approached.
After all, his display of power was still fresh in their minds.
After defeating not only the Voss twins but everyone ranked within the top twenty who challenged him simultaneously, it could be said that they all regarded him like a god.
Silas's eyes moved through the crowd as he searched for Sylvester, Amelia, or Billie.
"Are you looking for us?" Sylvester called from the centre, raising his hand so Silas could find him.
Silas spotted the hand among the students and nodded.
Asher followed close behind as Silas made his way toward the centre.
"Why are you always late?" Amelia asked, walking toward Silas.
She pushed her face close to his.
Silas scratched his head in resignation.
"You cannot blame me. I forgot."
Billie shook her head where she stood. "Who forgets an appointment?" She mused, just loud enough for all of them to hear.
"You should all stop. At least he is here now," Sylvester said.
"Yes, I am here now," Silas said, leaning slightly toward Sylvester.
"This is the final phase of the match-up."
The words rang through the entire compound like a clap of thunder.
The voice was familiar.
Leonard began to descend from the sky, hands clasped behind his back, his gaze settled on the candidates beneath.
"Those of you who gained points during the match-up, please move to the right side," he said with a calm voice.
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
Leonard smiled. Under normal circumstances, he could have silenced one of them as an example.
But these were the top hundred sector candidates of the Imperial Academy, protected so thoroughly by the Human Empire that harming one would make the perpetrator an enemy of the Empire itself.
"Just follow the instruction. Those who earned points in the match-up, move to the right," Leonard repeated, his voice raised high enough to send a ringing sound through every ear present.
The ranks began to break as candidates shifted toward the right.
After a few minutes, the movement settled.
Leonard looked around for a moment, then spoke again.
"Those of you on the left, wait a moment," he said.
Silas glanced at Billie, Amelia, and Sylvester beside him.
"What is this about?" He asked Sylvester.
Sylvester shrugged. "I don't know."
"We will find out soon enough," Billie added.
"Please, bear with me."
As Leonard said those words, a blinding flash of white light enveloped all the candidates on the right side.
Asher looked around before exhaling lightly.
"Welcome to the Orion Clan's treasury."
The words echoed through the air and through their minds as they slowly opened their eyes.
It was a wide expansive white space, with pillars planted at close intervals.
"You are granted temporary access to the treasury. If you have enough points, you can purchase anything here."
'The treasury of a clan millions of years old,' Silas mused, eyes wide.
"You may all purchase what you want now."
With those words, Leonard vanished.
"How often does your clan do this?" Silas asked, turning to Sylvester.
"I don't know about the hosting arrangements of previous years, so I cannot say," Sylvester replied.
"But doing this every year would make them poor quickly," Billie said, already walking toward one of the display cases.
Sylvester's face scrunched in pure disbelief.
Not that he found anything hard to believe. It was simply that what came out of Billie's mouth felt too outrageous to process.
"You may not know this, but the Orion Clan's treasury cannot be depleted by a group of students who only earned enough to purchase the entry-level items here."
Billie looked at him and shook her head.
"At this point you are just bragging," she said, rolling her eyes.
"How many points do you have?" Silas asked Amelia in a low voice.
"Fifty-two. What about you?" She replied with an equally low voice.
"Why are you doing that?" Silas asked with furrowed brows.
"You started it," Amelia replied, still whispering.
"You are strange," Silas said, shaking his head slowly.
"Boring," Amelia yawned. "How many points do you have?"
Silas stared at nothing for a moment before he replied.
"127."
"How did you get so many?" Amelia's brows arched.
"Did you see how many people I had to fight every day? Even after showing the gap in our power levels, they kept coming."
As he said those words, Silas could not help but shake his head at the absurdity.
"I don't think they use their brains."
Amelia chuckled.
"They truly do not."
"Hey, what are you two saying?" Sylvester cut in.
"How is that your business?" Billie asked. "Let's split up, purchase what we want, then regroup," she proposed.
"Why can't we just move together?" Sylvester groaned.
Nobody answered him.
They were already used to his habits.
"But how many points does everyone have?"
Sylvester looked at Silas for a moment before replying.
"76."
"I did not have many opponents after my first fight, so I only have 39," Billie sighed.
"Alright. I have 127 and Amelia has 52."
"Why did you ask how many points we have? It is not like we are spending together," Sylvester said, squinting.
"No particular reason. I was just curious."
Sylvester pointed two fingers at his own eyes, then directed them toward Silas.
"My eyes are on you."
"What is wrong with you?" Silas said, slapping the fingers away from his face.
All of them smiled.
"We meet back here in an hour," Silas said, turning to leave.
"No goodbye?" Amelia asked, watching his retreating figure.
"You do not need one, do you?" Billie asked, already walking away.
"Well, bye-bye, since you want it so badly," Sylvester said, running off before Amelia could respond.
Amelia looked around in confusion.
"Why am I always the one left standing here alone?"
