Chapter 929: The Door to Reality
Chapter 929: The Door to Reality
"Do you need my help?"
"N-no..."
Reavire closed her eyes.
To a Goddess, their Will was the most important.
"I trust you but... this is making me anxious!" Lawrend shouted.
If she died because of that, he wouldn’t be able to take it. He would perhaps demand the Creator to save her, and it would become a mess.
He didn’t want that to happen. He knew he was starting to overthink, but he couldn’t help it.
"My new Will... is to protect my family! I want to protect my husband, his wives, their children, and especially... my child..."
She uttered her words with strength and power. Her eyes were focused on the sky towards the universe. She was talking to someone and waiting for their response.
Anyone else would have thought she was crazy for saying those things, but those perfectly matched what she wanted. Reavire wanted stability and prosperity. It was the main reason she had her previous Will.
And now, she changed the focus of her attention. She wanted Lawrend to be happy, and for that, he needed his wives to be happy, and for them to be happy, they needed their children to be happy, and for herself, she wanted her child to be happy to keep herself and Lawrend happy.
It was selfish but who wasn’t?
She knew that, and that was why she looked up at the universe, waiting, waiting for the Creator to answer.
A few minutes passed.
Reavire’s body started fading faster and faster.
A Goddess without a Will was no different from a cup of water without a cup. She was losing herself as the invisible wind of the universe battered against her soul.
At this rate, she would completely vanish within five minutes.
"I can’t just watch this, Reavire."
Lawrend opened his palm over her head and a canopy of invisible maid energy protected her from the wind, but it didn’t stop her from fading.
"The law of the universe..." Lawrend watched with his eyes bulging from annoyance.
He bought her five more minutes, but it was futile. He delayed the inevitable. Unless a miracle occurred, she was gonna die here.
"Lawrend..."
Reavire stared at him.
"I know you’re not gonna die, Reavire!" He shouted in defiance.
"Do you... accept?"
Instead of consoling him, she asked him a question, and it was a perplexing one at that.
"What are you talking about?"
An infinite possibilities of dread and fear appeared in Lawrend’s head. He thought all of the negative things that could happen, and they made his face fall and his heart to stop.
"My Will..."
Reavire’s body limped as she entered a state of unconsciousness.
"What?"
Lawrend froze.
His mind recalled all of the negativity he thought of.
"No!"
He shoved them to the back of his mind. The hints were already here, and he only needed to piece them together.
There was a reason. There had to be a reason she didn’t straight up tell him.
"Magic has laws... My World has laws... and the Universe has laws..."
Lawrend’s mind whirred at that singular idea.
"Who said that one must have a Will to become a God or a Goddess!?" Lawrend shouted with his eyes shooting wide open.
Lawrend stood up with Reavire in his arms.
"I see it. I see it all... This was a test... A calculation... Ahahahahaha!"
His laughter echoed throughout the Spirit World, and even spilled into the nearby Human World.
Lawrend opened his hands. He stared at them.
"Reavire saw it. She saw what would happen. And the Creator... he tested me." Lawrend shook his head. "What a bunch of idiots."
The image of a universe appeared behind Lawrend.
Unlike a normal universe, this universe was young and yet to produce a single star or galaxy.
But that was the beauty of it.
Due to having no structure, it possessed an infinite possibility.
"In my universe, a being can be considered a Goddess if I accept them as my maid!"
With his declaration, a door appeared in front of Lawrend.
It floated in the sky with an ancient aura. Its surface was a material he hadn’t seen before. As he stared at it, he felt like he could see that each atom it had was a universe of its own.
Lawrend vigorously shook his head and looked on with dread.
"That’s not from this universe."
"Correct."
Frightened, Lawrend turned to his left and found the Creator watching the door with a frown.
"What is it?"
"You will see."
Offering no answer, the Creator stepped to the side.
"What?"
Lawrend stared at it and a crack opened.
A gust of wind blew. As it passed over Lawrend, he realized they were made of natural laws of wind from different composition and transformation.
If he crossed his legs right now and meditated, he would be able to add wind natural laws to his maid energy. It was that exotic and powerful.
"Is this a door... to reality?"
As the door swung open, Lawrend watched as a dimly lit room greeted his view. A young man was typing on a laptop. As if he noticed him, he turned his head and looked in his direction.
"What is that?"
"I’m writing your story," he says.
"???"
Stunned, Lawrend could only stare as the young man continued typing again. He paused as he appeared to be thinking about his next words to type.
A few minutes later, he spoke.
"What kind of universe do you need?"
"Are you...? Wait, who are you?"
"I wrote everything."
"So it was true..."
"Yes."
Lawrend paused as he closed his eyes to think.
When he opened his eyes, he looked down at Reavire.
"I want a universe where maids are loved as much as I love them. I want Goddesses that are maids. I want... maids."
"Good."
After responding with a single word, the door closed.
A piece of natural law flew out from the door as it melted into nothing.
This natural law bent the space around it.
"This is bad. Take it quick! I don’t want that infecting my universe!" the Creator shouted.
