The sentry captain took a deep breath, suppressing the turmoil in his heart, and stared intently at Rhodes: "This...this is unbelievable."
But… the aura emanating from these green-skinned beasts… did indeed carry a certain nauseating familiarity.
She looked at the dark green-skinned, contorted muscles of the orc corpses on the ground, her eyes filled with disgust and a barely perceptible fear. "You said you wanted to see Lord Cenarius?"
“Yes, ladies, time is of the essence. We need to see His Majesty the Demigod immediately and reveal to him a far greater conspiracy targeting him and this forest.” Rhodes said solemnly.
“These orcs are just the prelude to a great catastrophe,” Caponia said.
The Sentinel Captain fell into a brief silence as her gaze swept over Rhodes’ powerful companions behind him: Uther, radiating holy light; Jaina, surging with arcane energy; Caponia, whose fiery aura lingered; the floating monstrous Somra; the holy angel; the ferocious dragon; and the three silent, withered wooden warriors exuding an ancient and strange natural aura.
These forces were too bizarre, too powerful, and too... chaotic, but they had indeed saved them and mentioned the Burning Legion and a conspiracy against demigods, which made her unable to take them lightly.
“Lord Cenarius’s residence is not a place that mortals can easily set foot in,” the Sentinel Captain finally spoke, his tone still wary. “Furthermore, I must report to my superiors first. You can wait here…”
To be honest, the current night elf society is extremely averse to arcane magic, and these people in front of her can all use arcane magic, so she still needs to report this matter to her superiors before deciding whether to take them to meet the great demigod.
The Highborne are still researching the power of magic on another continent, and it's no surprise that the Burning Legion was drawn here by the Highborne's magic.
Almost out of preconceived notions, all the sentinels believed that the Highborne continued their research into magic, which led to the Burning Legion's arrival.
“There’s no time to wait, gentlemen. You should know the Burning Legion’s marching speed. We must see Lord Cenarius. These orcs are the best evidence. Lord Cenarius can tell whether this is fel energy or not,” Rhodes said.
A gentle, deep voice, as if the forest itself were whispering, resounded in everyone's ears, filled with a soothing and tranquil power:
"The forest senses a great unease, and it also senses... the presence of an ancient enemy. Elune's sentinels, bring our guests to me!"
The sound wasn't loud, but it resonated clearly in everyone's ears.
“Lord Cenarius! We understand. We will bring these men to see you immediately.” The Sentinel Captain and all the surviving night elves immediately knelt on one knee, their faces filled with immense awe and a sense of relief.
They understood that the demigod already knew everything about this place and had personally issued the summons, so there was no need for further hesitation.
The demigods will handle everything; they don't need to concern themselves with it anymore. If the Burning Legion really returns, should they awaken all the sleeping druids?
Rhodes and Caponia, along with Uther and Jaina, exchanged glances. This demigod's power is truly formidable!
"Please follow us, everyone. You all have flying mounts; just keep up with us." The leading female sentry whistled, and several hippogriffs flew in from afar.
Night Elf patrols are almost always equipped with hippogryphs. Although the Night Elves haven't made much progress over the past ten thousand years, their equipment and mounts are quite complete, since every member of their race is immortal.
Rhodes then summoned four wyverns, which carried the group behind the hippogriffs. (Just know that there were two wyverns and two wyvern kings.)
Led by the sentry captain, the group ventured deeper into the forest, while the soldiers at the back selected several well-preserved orc corpses to take with them.
The towering ancient trees emitted a soft aura of life. The deeper they went, the stronger the grand and tranquil natural power became. Finally, the group passed through an archway naturally formed by huge vines, and a bright and open space opened up before them.
This is a forest clearing surrounded by towering ancient trees, with a crystal-clear spring in the center that exudes a faint life energy.
Beside the spring, a majestic figure stood silently, with antlers on his head, possessed by a night elf, the half-man, half-deer father of the forest—Cenarus, the demigod of the forest.
This demigod was extremely tall, half a head taller than the withered warrior. The demigod's gaze swept over everyone and finally stopped on Rhodes.
"So it's you, Rhodes! It's been so long! How are you?" Cecesnarius's first words shocked everyone.
Everyone looked at Rhodes in disbelief, especially the female mage Jaina, who narrowed her eyes. She had previously suspected that Rhodes was the Guardian himself, but this kid had been too presumptuous. Now, the demigod had confirmed it.
"Rhodes, you...you've met a demigod! You know Lord Cenarius?"
"My God! How is this possible! 1 years ago?" Everyone stared at Rhodes in disbelief, as if they had just met him.
Only the Night Elf Sentinels behaved relatively normally. So what if it's been 1 years? Many of us here have lived for 1 years, and the Night Elf population has been very small during those 1 years.
"Please don't look at me like that. I'm confused too, Lord Cenarius. I'm sure this is the first time we've met," Rhodes said, looking speechless.
Okay! It seems the timeline of Warcraft has gone wrong again. I may have gone 1 years into the future, which explains why the Bronze Dragonflight didn't come looking for me.
When he first transmigrated, Rhodes didn't change much, especially regarding Arthas, which he dared not make any changes for fear of the Bronze Dragonflight coming after him.
At that time, I was no match for the siege of the Bronze Dragons, or even for the adventurers they had recruited.
But now it seems that I have traveled back 1 years and participated in the ancient war.
"Oh! I forgot about that. You told me you were from 1 years in the future, so you don't recognize me yet."
It's such a strange feeling. I told you we should have sealed away our memories back then, but you said we shouldn't.
"Don't worry, only I, Malfurion, Tyrande, and another prisoner locked up in jail know about you," Cenarius said with a smile to Rhodes.
"Ten thousand years ago! Demigod, do you mean that Lord Rhodes participated in the ancient war ten thousand years ago?" Caponia asked, glancing at Rhodes.
As high elves who inherited the knowledge of the Highborne, they also had some understanding of time magic. It is said that during the ancient Night Elf Empire, there was a great mage named Elisande who was proficient in time magic.
“Yes, for some reason, Rhodes will travel to 1 years ago in the future. I can’t say too much about these things, and I will seal your memories afterward,” said the demigod Cenarius.
The main thing sealed away was the memories of Gina, Uther, and Caponia. The night elves wouldn't spread this news, because it wasn't a big deal to them.
“Alright! Lord Demigod, you’ve already surprised me enough today,” Rhodes said.
"Going back 1 years? How is that even possible?" Jaina looked incredulous. She couldn't imagine how terrifying time magic was, that it could actually send someone back 1 years.
“Ordinary time magic can’t travel back 1 years, but there is someone in Azeroth who can. But we’re not talking about that now. Rhodes, tell me what you’ve discovered.” Cenarius interrupted everyone’s thoughts and looked at Rhodes to ask.
Upon hearing this, Rhodes nodded, waved to the sentries in front of him, and then placed several orc corpses in front of Cenarius.
"Lord Cenarius, these are orcs we found on the battlefield; they have been infected by fel energy."
"Archimonde the Defiler, one of the two commanders of the Burning Legion, has been summoned to our world." Rhodes revealed the information he possessed.
“You don’t need to be so polite with me, Rhodes. You can call me Teacher Cenarius, that’s what you’ve always called me. You’ve studied the Druid’s way with me.”
"Your aptitude is the best of all the students I have ever taught," Cenarius said.
Rhodes' talent was exceptional; he was the most powerful druid Rhodes had ever taught. No matter what the spell, the kid could learn it instantly.
Upon hearing this, Uther and the high elf mage Kaponia both turned to look at Rhodes, as they were aware of Rhodes's learning abilities.
"It is indeed extremely perverted."
"It seems that Holy Light Rhodes is not the only one who is favoring you."
Rhodes smiled slightly awkwardly. There was nothing he could do; having a system was just that awesome, that kind of bug!
The demigod then carefully examined the orc's corpse and found traces of fel corruption. These orcs had consumed demon blood, and if they consumed it again, they could even become half-human, half-demon.
“Now that I have a general understanding of the situation, Rhodes, I will immediately summon all the druids to awaken, and also summon Tyrande and Malfurion,” Cenarius sighed and said.
It's time to awaken all the druids.
“That’s what I think too, Professor Cenarius,” Rhodes said.
Just then, a huntress riding a hippogriff charged over.
"Oh no, Demigod! Redskin! The outside is full of redskin orcs!"
Chapter 119 Grommash Hellscream Strikes, Uther vs. Grommash
"Redskins? How many of them are there? Who's leading them?" The sentry captain immediately turned around and shouted.
“Countless! Like a tide! Leading the way was… a truly terrifying fellow, his eyes were burning, his skin was dark red, and he was wielding a huge, blood-dripping axe! He… he just roared, and the whole forest trembled!” The huntress’s voice was urgent and terrified, clearly overwhelmed by the ferocious aura.
Grommash Hellscream!
The name flashed into Rhodes and Cenarius's minds instantly; there was no mistake, it was definitely this guy who had arrived.
Only this orc berserker possesses such power. His record is terrifying; he has killed two demigod-level experts: Cenarius and Mannonos.
Of course, since he came himself, it seems he won't be able to complete those two feats.
These red-skinned orcs have already drunk the blood of Manonos, and have been corrupted by fel energy, becoming second-time berserk fel orcs. The Warsong Clan has already drunk demon blood.
But that doesn't make sense. Logically, Cenarius should have launched the attack first after discovering the orcs' tracks. Grom Hellscream was pushed to his limit before drinking the demon blood.
How come Grommash Hellscream has taken demon blood ahead of schedule?
Wait a minute, in the original timeline, Grommash Hellscream didn't encounter the demigods. Instead, a large portion of his army was annihilated by the demigods before he went to search for demon blood.
In other words, the orcs he defeated were Grommash Hellscream's army, and if he hadn't intervened, it would have been the demigod Cenarius who had.
Grommash Hellscream's Bloodlust, which occurred within hours of defeating Cenarius, fits perfectly in time.
“Professor Cenarius, that’s an orc warrior outside, Grommash Hellscream. He’s incredibly powerful and shouldn’t be underestimated,” Rhodes said.
“Okay, I understand, Rhodes. Let’s go!” Cenarius nodded to Rhodes.
How powerful can an orc be even if he consumes demon blood? He participated in the War of the Ancients and is a great wild demigod of Azeroth.
Seeing Cenarius's confidence, Cenarius shook his head and then looked at Uther beside him.
"Lord Uther, are you confident in dealing with Grommash Hellscream?" If we're talking about trump cards, they only have one on their side, and that's Uther.
“Leave it to me! No matter how corrupted he is by demonic power, my Holy Light will not be inferior to his.” Uther gave Rhodes a reassuring look.
Cenarius's face instantly became incredibly majestic. His massive stag hoof stomped heavily on the ground, and a ring of emerald green light instantly spread out. The entire forest seemed to come alive, and thick vines, like giant pythons, sprouted from the soil, quickly weaving together to form a tough green barrier around the clearing.
"I am enraged! How dare demons trespass into my sacred territory! I will awaken the forest! Prepare for battle! Children of Elune, defend the holy land!"
As the demigod's words fell, a large number of tree spirits, along with the demigod's descendants, forest guardians, and a large number of tree people were also collectively awakened.
In an instant, the entire forest became the enemy of the orcs, who launched a frenzied attack on all the red-skinned orcs.
Rhodes unleashed all his trump cards: the Golden Man and Diamond Man troops, while four wyverns soared through the sky, relentlessly attacking the orc air force.
After arriving in the world of Azeroth, the orcs also trained an aerial force, one of which consisted of giant bats tamed by trolls, and the other of wind riders.
The orc race trained wyverns, but the wyverns of Azeroth are tan in color and are smaller than the wyverns summoned by Rhodes, let alone the Wyvern King.
The branches of towering ancient trees twisted and intertwined, transforming into an indestructible vine barrier; the ground rose, and mountain giants joined the battle with earth-shaking strides; dryads and forest guardians (sons of Cenarius) traversed the forest, hurling deadly spears and nature spells; more ancient trees were awakened, their heavy steps shattering the earth, their massive arms sweeping across the orcs.
The sky was instantly ignited by the flames of war. Night Elf hippogriff riders, like nimble swarms of bees, rained down arrows. Two-headed chimeras roared deafeningly, and deadly chains of lightning leaped through the orcish bat riders and wind riders, turning riders and mounts into charred remains.
With their larger size and greater strength, the wyverns and dragon kings summoned by Rhodes had an overwhelming advantage in the aerial battle. Their claws and venom tore at the relatively slender wyverns of Azeroth, while their dragon breath scorched the fragile giant bats.
In terms of air power, even without Rhodes' wyverns, the Night Elves hold an absolute advantage, truly deserving of their status as a powerful race with a history spanning millennia!
In Warcraft, the Night Elves are the only self-contained army with power comparable to the Alliance, the Horde, and the Undead.
The ground battlefield instantly transformed into a meat grinder. Rhodes's golden and diamond troops were like two unbreakable torrents of steel, charging upstream against the raging tide of red-skinned orcs!
"Rhodes, don't summon those fire elementals, they'll burn down the forest. Just use regular magic to attack."
"If possible, you can summon earth elementals to fight." Just as Rhodes was about to summon fire elementals to help in the battle, Cenarius interrupted him.
I know I can summon fire elementals, and there's even an earth elemental.
He glanced at Cenarius with some surprise. Well? It seems he'll also gain the magic to summon earth elementals in the future. Speaking of which, there's a high probability of getting this kind of thing among the level 5 spells in the City of the Dead.
